Frontdoor’s home repair Experts are just a video chat away. Here’s how you can prepare for a call:

  1. First thing’s first: grab your phone and open the Frontdoor app.
  2. Be at the site of the issue so the Expert can see what you’re seeing.
  3. Have a toolbox handy in case you have to complete a repair.
  4. Safety first. You may be asked to turn off power for electrical issues and water for plumbing
  5. Leave jitters at the door (it’s not a first date!). We know you may not know what you’re doing, and that’s why we’re here.

To get more video chat sessions as a Frontdoor member, you can easily upgrade to Frontdoor Unlimited on the home screen of the app.

The Frontdoor Unlimited membership lasts for 1 year. Your membership auto-renews each year but can easily be managed or cancelled in the app at least three days prior to your auto-renewal date. Please note that your membership fee will not be refunded should you choose to cancel your membership prior to the end of your full 12-month term.

  • Talk to a plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, HVAC, or handyman Expert in real-time and show them your issue video.
  • The Expert will help you diagnose the issue, sometimes help you fix it right then and there, or let you know which parts are needed for the repair and where to get them. After your video chat session, your Expert will send you some helpful notes in the app to recap next steps and will often include links to the parts you need.
  • Your Expert will also send you a list of qualified, local Pros should you need in-home service after your video chat session.
  • It’s the easiest way to get the home repair help you need in real-time from Experts who have an average of 20 years of experience in their field.

To ensure our video chat Experts are qualified to assist with home repair and maintenance needs, they must have:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in their trade or field
  • A track record of mentoring, instructing, or teaching others in their trade

This ensures that you receive the most knowledgeable and experienced guidance during your video chat session.

After your video chat. your Expert will send you call notes with a recap of your repair or maintenance issue, their recommendations, and the parts or tools needed to complete the repair.

Plus, our Experts save you the time and hassle of searching for the right tools or parts by providing links to specific items and sometimes even a shopping cart with everything you need already in it. They may also be able to share discount codes with you in the call notes as well. 

Once your video chat call has ended, click on the “Chat” button in the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen. This allows you to view your video chat call history, select a specific call, and click the “Watch Recording” button to access your call notes. Once you click the “Watch Recording” button, a screen will open in your internet browser with your video chat recording and call notes. Simply scroll to the bottom of the page to read the call notes from your Expert.

Yes, the New HVAC Program includes installation of the new heating and air conditioning units. Our trained Pros will handle the entire installation process, from start to finish. Members do not need to find a separate Pro or pay extra for installation services. Necessary modifications, codes, and permits are included in the estimate to meet state and local requirements.

A Pro is a repair or maintenance professional that is part of the Frontdoor network of vetted service providers. Frontdoor Unlimited members can request a list of qualified Pros in their area to contact in a self-serve capacity for a repair or maintenance service. 

This is a more general way to refer to our product offerings. You can choose from a free Frontdoor or the Unlimited membership plan based on your needs for your home.
